Konbini Your Friend

What is Konbini? Konbini (pronounced con-beany), is short for convenience stores in Japan. They become your friend while in Japan. Need some cash (Yen)? Konbini. Need water or something to drink? Konbini. Want a quick snack or food? Konbini.

Unlike convenience stores in the US, Konbini’s are very popular and somewhat cherished in Japan. We always withdraw our Yen from the ATM at the Konbini. We buy our daily water, snacks, drinks at a Konbini. You can also buy necessities and souvenirs.

7-11 is all over Japan and they are quite clean and great place to get food or use the bathroom. Speaking of Japanese bathrooms – more about that later.

Here are some pictures of our favorites things to buy and eat from Konbini’s.

Onigiri is very popular for a quick snack. Our favorites are salmon, ume- pickled plum, or bonito.

Several times a day, the staff is restocking the shelves. This was in the evening and fully stocked with new food. Baked goods for snacks or breakfast on the go. Oshikatta desu!
