Journey back home for summer

After 2 years of being in Japan, we finally journeyed back to the Pacific NW for vaccines, family, friends, food & fun! When we left, Japan had recently started vaccinating the 65+ year olds. Japan was delayed in getting vaccinations to the general public with many factors; so we decided to go back for a visit and vaccines. After arrival, the next day, we got our vaccines!

This trip back home to see family and friends was what we needed. Lots of food and fun was had by all. Here are some highlights from our trip: Portland- we missed, Food, Friends and Family. Sorry we didn’t get to see everyone, we were busy and we will catch up with you next time.

Portland seemed almost back to normal. Portland has been known for the amazing food scene. A few favorites closed due to Covid, with so many favorites survived. We had a food fest, eating our way around the city. Portland food scene are lined streets with outdoor seating. So Portland and fun.

We had it all, amazing Mediterranean, Greek, Italian, Mexican, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Pacific NW farm to table. It was all delicious! Come to visit Portland and you won’t be disappointed with the food scene. It is definitely thriving and expanding.

After 2 years, it was incredible to connect with so many. I will always cherish the time we spent with everyone we had a chance to see. Even if a visit was short, it was so lovely to chat, eat, laugh, hug, reminisce, and hang out. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.

With my parents, we were able to squeeze a quick trip to California. It was a fun trip to visit family, friends, colleges and eat of course the best Mexican food in San Diego. A week to remember and good timing to escape the record breaking temperatures in Portland. Who knew going to Cali in the summer would be cooler than the PNW?

After a little over of month of fun, it was time for us to head back to Tokyo, in time for the start of the 2020 Olympics. We had to undergo a 3-day mandatory governmental hotel quarantine. Now we are back at our home and quarantined for the remaining 14 days. We will be free as of 7/30. It’s a good thing the Olympics will keep us busy. Stay tuned for more details about the Olympics from Tokyo. It will be interesting since no spectators are allowed and Tokyo is under the 4th State of Emergency. Once we are free to leave our home, we will venture out to check out the Olympic sites, even when our days are 90+ F degrees/ 32+C with humidity, we will survive!
